Why I almost quit...and want to be sure you don't!
instructor, business owner, mentor
Amelia Dalphonse, MA, BCBA
The field of ABA can be infinitely rewarding, but it can also be stressful, confusing and even terrifying, especially when you’re first starting out. I know. I’ve been there. When I first started I almost gave up. This is why I have made it my mission to provide the support so many in the field are unable to find.
While taking classes to get my master’s degree in ABA, I had been asked to apply for a position supervising a program for autistic children in a community mental health center. This is the same program I had been working in when providing direct services. The position was historically held by a licensed clinical therapist, but for a variety of reasons, they were having a difficult time filling the position when it became vacant.
That’s when they approached me.
Although I knew there were many things about the job that I didn’t want any part of, I also firmly believe that you can’t complain about something if you aren’t willing to take action to make a change. I applied and ultimately accepted the role, feeling largely unprepared and unqualified.
Effective parent training is one of the best ways to get results for your clients. Yet few BCBAs have the training or time to create a curriculum that will get results. That’s where ACHIEVE comes in! ACHIEVE Parent Training is a complete “done for you” curriculum that will improve the effectiveness of your training, and save you countless hours
We know about your hectic schedule. That’s why our courses are short and results-focused. They’re completely online so you can take them anywhere. And they’re designed to give you what you need so you can go on with your day. We offer select courses a la carte, but most are only available through our Master ABA Dojo membership as they work as part of our Game Plans.
Our Master ABA Dojo offers BCBAs access to a membership that provides ongoing support and allows you to solve common problems by follow strategic Game Plans. Weekly office hours, access to an online community and downloadable resources are just a few other reasons to join!
Quality supervision is critical to improving the field of ABA, yet most BCBAs are so pressed for time they can’t possibly fit more into their busy days. That’s where the RISE Supervision Curriculum comes in. It’s a complete curriculum so you no longer have to worry if you’re covering everything you need to during supervision!
About Master ABA
We are committed to the ethical use of ABA to help autistic individuals learn in the way that works best for them.
We must be aware of and responsive to the concerns of those who fear ABA. We must continue to drive the field toward more sensitive, positive practices. There will never be a time when everyone agrees on the subject. However, as professionals we must listen to the opinions of those people who we are trying to help and respond to their concerns.
The mission of our training is teach professionals to use ABA principles to help autistic individuals in a way that respects them as neurodiverse individuals. Together we will change the field.
